Hike 2 - Lion’s Ground (Singye Thang)
Hike to Lion’s ground from Willing Resort and return via Semjee Village (4-5 hours)

This hike starts from Willing Resort and climbs uphill towards Tafi Goenba, continuing up to Singye Thang in about 2 hours. The return hike route is via Semjee village. Unlike the first hike from Dorji Goenba, this route features a challenging uphill climb with a 45-degree angle through blueberry shrubs and rhododendron flowers.

Route Highlights:

  • Starting Point: Willing Resort
  • Initial Ascent: Steep 45-degree climb

  • Mid-Point: Arrive at Tafi Goenba in 1 hour
  • Continuing Ascent: Hike uphill towards Singye Thang for another 1 hour
  • Destination: Arrive at Singye Thang (Lion’s Ground)
  • Elevation: 3950 meters
  • Scenic Reward: Enjoy breathtaking views of Gangkar Phunsum, the highest unclimbed mountain in the world (7,570 meters, 24,840 ft)
  • Rest Stop: Have a packed lunch with panoramic views of the mountains and Nubi villages
  • Descent: Head down towards Semjee Village (1 hour)
  • Landscape: Take in the panoramic view of Nubi Geog villages on the other side of the valley
  • Flora: Observe the rhododendron flowers, blueberry shrubs, and rich biodiversity
  • Cultural Experience: Visit Semjee Village and enjoy traditional Bhutanese tea
  • Return Journey: Hike back to Willing Resort (1 hour)
  • Total Duration: Approximately 4-5 hours
