Nestled in the heart of an intimate destination on a hilltop, Willing Resort is surrounded by high mountains, sprawling valleys, and mesmerizing views of landmark fortresses (Dzong), the Museum, and the Mangdi river. The property offers one of the best views in Bhutan. Historically, Trongsa is the home of the Bhutanese Monarch and served as the administrative headquarters during the reign of the 1st and 2nd kings of Bhutan until mid 1950s. Since then, the Governors of the Trongsa region were historically elected as Dragon Kings of Bhutan. This tradition continues today, as the prince must serve as the governor (Trongsa Penlop) of Trongsa before being crowned King of Bhutan. The foot trail road connecting eastern and western Bhutan passed through Trongsa Dzong's courtyard. The massive doors of the dzong could be shut on the Penlop’s (Governor’s) command, effectively dividing the country and allowing the governor to control trade and collect larger tax revenues.
