Yueling is the official documented name of the village where Lam Ngagi Wangchuk meditated. In 1543, he initiated and built the first temple on the site, where the historic Trongsa Dzong (fortress) was later constructed. The name "Willing Resort" is derived from the village's name, reflecting its location within the village area. Additionally, in English, "willing" conveys positivity and willingness.
The 4-acre plot offering one of the best views in Bhutan was acquired by proprietor Mr. Pema Namgyel from his family members in Willing village in 2010. The plan was conceptualized with a focus on the historical significance of the area and the need for luxury property in Trongsa Dzongkhag.
